Attractions
THE FISHING PIER
The fishing pier is at the north of Cha-Am. Go north along the beachfront and keep going straight through the gravelled road that starts from Wat Neranchararam (i.e. don't follow the road that veers left). You will find the pier, and many seafood restaurants.
CHA-AM FRESH MARKET
Cha-Am market is on the other side of Phetkasem Road, in the direction of the train station. Turn left before the train station and go straight.
WAT CHA-AM
It is a temple located west of Cha-Am, with a cave on a small hill. The image of Buddha inside the temple was built in the period of Ayutthaya. Follow the sign that indicates "Wat Cha Am Cave" and you will find the stairs that climb to the cave.
CHA-AM FOREST PARK
Located on Phetkasem road, on the right when going south (turn left at Narathip junction when coming from the beach, then go straight and you will find the park on your right, a few hundred meters after the fire station). It's not breathtaking but it's a quiet and relaxing place. You can go there for a picnic, play football with the kids, ride your bicycle, go for a jog... you got the idea. You can also see peacocks and monkeys.
MARUEKHATHAYAWAN PALACE
Also written "Marukhathaiyawan" or "Mrigadayavan" Palace. Built in 1923 on the coast between Cha-Am and Hua Hin, it was King Rama VI's seaside summer palace. Referred to as "the Palace of Love and Hope", it is a two-storey golden teak pavillion with a series of halls connected to each other.
Cha Am ATV Park – Want an action packed day which the entire family can enjoy? Seek an adrenaline rush to remember for a long time to come? Then go to Cha Am's ATV park for great action on a Quad Bike and for a fun filled day of Paint Balling.
HUA HIN
Hua Hin is a very popular seaside resort. King Rama VII built a summer palace there, creating a vogue among high society for Hua Hin to become the favourite retreat from Bangkok's summer heat. Today the Royal Family still resides in Hua Hin for part of the year. Like Cha-Am, Hua Hin can be quite crowded during the week-ends. Make sure you go and see the railway station, which is said to be the most beautiful train station in Thailand, and the night market.
PALA-U WATERFALLS
A beautiful waterfall 60 km west of Hua Hin. It has 15 levels, but reaching the first three or four levels is already rewarding (and could be exhausting if you're not in a good physical shape).
HORSE BACK RIDING ON THE BEACH
Is a enjoyable activity for tourists. There are about 60 horses scattered along Hua Hin beach.
HUA HIN FISHING PIER
Many come here for fishing, walking, jogging or to enjoy the seabreeze. Others come just to enjoy the sunrise or sunset.
Hua Hin Railway Station – Built in the reign of King Rama VI, the station is one of Thailand's oldest railway stations. It is also one of the kingdom's most beautiful train stations with unique architecture. Its most striking feature is the splendid Royal Waiting Room which is constructed in Thai architectural style.
DINING IN HUA HIN
There are hundreds of restaurants scattered around Hua Hin. Some are located in town – like Naresdamri Road – while several are settled further away from the center of town.
GOLFING
There are 8 golf courses in Hua Hin and its nearby areas (one of these is the first golf course in Thailand – built in the 1920's). Here you will not only be playing golf at the finest courses but also be able to enjoy the most wonderful scenery. Many golf courses also provide golf lessons. This is the golfer's paradise.
SHOPPING IN HUA HIN
There is a large shopping mall in Hua Hin called Hua Hin Market Village along Phetkasem Road. There you will find many brand name shops and local shops. There are also many tailoring shops that offer very competitive prices on western suits and dresses made from a wide variety of cloths.
AROUND HUA HIN - HUA HIN NIGHT MARKET
Is open 7 days a week from 5 pm to midnight. This lively street starts at the intersection of Petchkasem Road and stretches past several blocks.
